Legacy Etched in Grace: Celebrating Bishop Kwasi Ampofo
Where do I even begin? The tributes are endless, but silence is impossible. This dawn, I wrestled with memories of you, reliving our encounter like echoes in the dark.

Years ago, I set out to organize an event dubbed “Dinner with Fathers of the Land” in Takoradi. Seeking men of God to grace the event, with nothing but hope, I walked into your office unannounced, no appointment, no prior connection, just a vision. You didn’t hesitate. You didn’t ask who I was, what I believed, or even for a dime. You simply nodded and said you’d be there.

Then came the event. Guests were seated, anticipation hung in the air, and yet you were missing. Panic gripped me. You were the guest speaker! When I called, your voice was so calm it felt surreal, you said “I forgot it’s today… I was exercising.” My heart sank. But then, within minutes, you arrived, smiling like nothing had happened. I told you I’d show up, you said. And you did. The night was graciously beautiful with the support of Rev Duke Ackon, Pstr Clifford, Rev Aggrey, Pstr Felix, and the other men of God (with their wives)

Days later, I returned to thank you. But you wanted nothing, just to bless me and encourage me, as if your presence hadn’t already been a gift. I saw your humility before I fully grasped your greatness. You shaped my perception of the body of Christ without demanding anything in return.

I hid from you all this while. I knew if you saw me now, you’d be saddened by the ‘road not taken’. But the road you walked was one of sacrifice, of purpose, of unwavering faith, not one everyone could follow. But you made an impact, one that lingers in the hearts you touched.
Rest in peace, Big Daddy. You were a giant in grace, a force in kindness, and broke the barriers of denominational and non-denominational fellowship, projecting one body of Christ. Thank you.
